stevebuzashart's Biography

I love art, especially paintings.  One thing I love as much as painting is talking about paintings; hence, the Art History Degree.  Painting is a livelihood.  I do work part time jobs, though, mostly hanging shows at art galleries, and being a waiter at a fine dining restaurant called The Lawrenceville Inn; I love these, too!  I got into art when I lived in the D.C. area in the late 90's.  I would go to the National Gallery of Art every week-end for a summer and look at all the Impressionist paintings that were there as well as the only Da Vinci that is in the United States.  By doing this I was able to develop a language for why I liked or did not like certain paintings.  After that, a friend of mine got me to start painting since I loved looking at great paintings so much.  That was the end of 1998.Now, I am looking to get a double degree and teach, curate, hang, paint.  It's all about paintings right now.  My love for God has only helped tremendously inspirationally.  ALL of my inspiration comes from God; my love for paintings and the great Masterpieces of all eras, as well as my love for painting.  I love the loose form and spontaneity with acrylic as the medium for quick drying.  I love new ideas and trying them out during painting.  It becomes very fresh and surprising.Aquas, metallics, and interesting reds and greens and blues I mix up first then I look to the canvas for where to place these lovely colors.  I love color first, then balance, then composition.  I love the unity that forms as a result of this method. My favorite artists are Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Pollock, Duccio, Simone Martini, Fra Angelico, David, Diane Polchinski, Dawn Petrlik  and many, many others.  My favorite paintings are Van Gogh's "The Sewer," Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus," Simone Martini's "The Annunciation," Da Vinci's "Last Supper,"  Duccio's "Maesta Altarpiece," and Monet's "Footbridge" paintings after 1920.I am married and my wife is a jazz pianist and she supports me very much in my artistic endeavors. I'll add more to this bio as it comes to me.Steve Buzash
