ARTIST PROFILE
PHILOSOPHY: Steve explains, “The goal of my creative work is a creation of life. My creativity is driven by my ability to take a part of life, and turn it into a personalized and everlasting creation – a creation that expresses my unique artistic passions. I enjoy turning a photographic image into its own life-like entity where you can almost feel yourself in the image and experience my emotions which brings you to that place you never knew existed. To me, this is a creation of life”. STYLE: portraits, Celestial landscapes, natural landscapes bathed in warm light with rainbows, urban landscapes, commercial prints for local merchants and Oil-likes (photographed images recreated into oil based-like paintings and printed on canvas). experimentation with various kinds of composition, special effects, lighting, and films is stressed. Many images are captured using special photographic filters. Computerized color enhancement is used as well as black and white print. TECHNIQUE: Both film and digital work is composed. Nikon 35 mm N80 is principal camera for film photography. Olympus C5050 is principal camera for digital photography. Various other cameras are also used. BACKGROUND: Steve’s work is a reflection of his unique life experiences. He has lived overseas in the Middle East where his days living in Tel Aviv and the Israeli desert served as a catalyst to Steve’s eye for capturing the desolation of urban life as well as the beauty and tranquility of nature. Moreover, his exposure to the socio-political tensions shared by the Arab-Israeli communities there prompted him to explore bold new styles of experimental composition in his work, while ensuring his work’s objective as creations of life. Born in Brooklyn in 1978, Steve is the third of five children and currently lives in Saugerties, NY. His training is self-taught and his work is currently being displayed in various art galleries, and was on display in Israel. |
